History/Overview
Since 2014, the BMW 4 Series has served the brand’s compact coupe enthusiasts, effectively replacing the two-door version of the 3 Series. The lineup also includes a convertible, and a four-door Gran Coupe body style that adds some of the practicality of the old 3 Series wagon but with the sleek lines of a two-door.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The 2023 BMW 4 Series is unchanged following the introduction of a second-generation design in 2021.
Available Trims
BMW offers the 4 Series in 430i and M440i configurations. The 430i uses a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, while the M440i gets a 3.0L turbo six-cylinder. An eight-speed transmission and AWD are included either way.
High-performance M4 and battery-powered i4 versions are covered in separate buyer’s guide entries.
